Belgium newspapers lose circulation in 2012
Flemish (Dutch language) newspapers in Belgium performed – until 2012 – better than the French language Wallone papers.
In 2012, however, almost all Flemish newspapers lost circulation as well.
Compared to 2011 economic paper De Tijd lost 9%, De Morgen and Gazet van Antwerpen both lost 4% while the Dutch language version of free daily Metro lost 3%. Regional paper Het Belang van Limburg lost 2%. Tabloid paper Het Laatste Nieuws had the same circulation as in 2011. De 2012 circulation of De Standaard and Het Nieuwsblad is not yet officially published.
All French language newspapers lost circulation: economic paper L’Echo (-13%), Sudpresse (-8%), La Derniere Heure/Les Sports (-7%), Libre Belgique / Gazette de Liège (-5%), l’Avenir (-2%), Metro (-1%). Le Soir has no officially audited 2012 circulation yet. (data www.cim.be)
