Bild free for one day
Distributing 41,000,000 (fourty one million) copies door-to-door will result for Greman Bild Zeitung almost certainly in an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
The paper was distributed to every household by Deutsche Post on Saturday to celebrate the 60th birthday of the ‘boulevard’ paper.
Not everybody, however, likes Bild. And not everybody wanted the paper. Cartoonist Ruthe put a sticker on Facebook (right) that could be printed and put on the mailbox: “I smell shit but I don’t want it”.
Which is in line with what a spokesman from publisher Axel Springer once remarked: “every day without a free paper is good day”.
The 41 million papers were already printed on Wednesday which made it impossible to put recent news in the paper. The 4-2 victory over Greece in the Euro Football Championship was only covered in the ‘real’ Bild (right) – circulation 3.2 million.
