Metro Montreal moves outside

After the decision by Société de transport de Montréal (STM) to grant the exclusive distribution contract to competitor 24 Heures, Metro Montreal will now hand out their papers outside Metro stations.

Daniel Barbeau, the paper’s publisher said in a press release:

We intend to maintain a strong presence in the lives of Montrealers. Starting in 2011, copies of Métro will be handed out outside the STM subway stations. Thanks to an expanded distribution team of promoters, we will continue to reach our readers as effectively as ever.

Being a one-time winter traveler in Montreal, I must say this is quite a challenge for distributors as Montreal can be extremely cold in winter.
