20 Minuten publisher sees revenues increase

friday_cover1Swiss media group Tamedia, publisher of paid local papers and free newspaper 20 Minuten, saw revenues increase with 0.4% to Chf 255m (€198m) in the first half of 2010.

Flagships Tages-Anzeiger (Zurich) and Berner Zeitung lost revenue. Some smaller local titles, the Sunday paper, the online portals and 20 Minuten showed a growth. Also the weekend magazine 20 Minuten Friday (right) was performing above average.

In an article in Persoenlich, 20 Minuten was called a Goldesel (cash-cow), a reference to the folk tale (by the brothers Grimm) of the donkey that had golden coins coming out of its rear.
