Tamedia positive on free dailies
Swiss publisher Tamedia saw its profits decline with more than 60% in 2009 compared to the previous year. The (EBIT) profit was Chf 52m (€36m). The company, however, is positive about the development of their free dailies.
Swiss market leader 20 Minuten saw its results go down for the first time in its history but according CEO Martin Kall, this was mainly due to the recession. In the French speaking part the paper is performing very well after the merger with compititor Le Matin Bleu, while also the results of weekend magazine Friday are very good.
Also the Luxembourg free daily L’Essentiel showed promising results. (Persoenlich)
