24timer integrated in MetroXpress

24timer2008The editor-in-chief and the managing editor of Danish free daily 24timer, Claus Johansen and Signe Bentzen, have lost their job after 24timer’s and MetroXpress’ editorial operations merged.

The reason for the merger is the financial difficulties of the Danish free dailies according to Metro International.

Søren Riis, chief executive of MetroXpress, told Mediawatch.dk: ”We’ve already merged several operational functions and now we’re taking the next step by creating a stronger common editorial staff to write and produce both papers”.

Metro Denmark (free dailies MetroXpress and 24timer) is owned for 24.5% by JP/Politiken. (Copenhagen Post)
