De Pers increases circulation

depers2009Dutch free daily De Pers, down in circulation to 159,000 in Q3 2009 (see previous post) wants to increase circulation in 2010 to 250,000.

In launching year 2007 the paper even had a circulation of almost 500,000 but after it closed a deal with regional publisher Wegener (Mecom) distribution was limited to the larger cities in the western part of the countries. These were areas where Wegener did not publish their own papers.

Circulation is going to be increased by distributing in more major cities outside the western part. Also cities with universities will be getting the third Dutch free daily (after Metro and Spits) again.

The paper wants 4 readers to read every copy, which will be quite a task. (MediaNed)
