Austrian publishers don’t want free dailies

The Austrian publishers organization VÖZ (Verrein von Östereichische Zeitungen) does not have to admit the publisher of free/paid daily Österreich as a member.

The VÖZ earlier decided on that, because they argued that Österreich publisher Wolfgang Fellner would put his own interest above those of the joint newspapers.

After Fellner sued VÖZ, the court decided VÖZ could indeed deny membership as they represented only businesses with similar business models (meaning paid newspapers). (Der Standard).
