20 Minutos Spain down in readership

After seven years of permanent growth in readership, Spanish free daily 20 Minutos lost readers for the first time since launch. The paper is still the best read paper in Spain with 2,772,000 daily readers (April 2008-March 2009, but compared to the full year 2008 (2,889,000) 20 Minutos lost readers.

Second paper in Spain is sports paper Marca with 2,749,000 daily readers. El Pais is third with 2,182,000 readers while free daily Què! is fourth with 2,116,000 readers (2008: 2,255,000).

Free daily ADN is fifth with 1,671,000 readers (2008: 1,787,000). The impact of the closures of half a dozen editions of ADN and Què! and the termination of Metro are not yet fully visible as these are all quite recent. (EGM/AIMC research)
