Closures in California
Three free dailies of the ‘Daily News‘ group (the Bay Area News Group, part of NewsMedia) have been closed down: the Burlingame Daily News, the San Mateo Daily News and the Redwood City Daily News.
The Palo Alto Daily News stopped their Sunday edition and is now published five days a week. The page count of the paper also went down according to free-daily.com.
Circulation of the closed down editions was around 30,000. Last year the East Bay Daily News (Berkeley) was closed down.
The closed down editions seem to have been replaced by a ‘general’ Daily News free newspaper. According to the masthead, the paper is serving The Peninsula: Atherton, East Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Carlos, Stanford and Woodside.
