Dutch frees 2nd, 3rd & 5th in readership

After paid paper De Telegraaf (2.1 million readers), Metro is the best-read newspaper in the Netherlands in 2008 with 1,867,000 daily readers, reaching 13.7% of the population according to the latest NOM research. Free daily Spits is 3rd with 1,696,000 readers, reaching 12.4%.

After paid paper AD (1.5 million readers), free daily De Pers is 5th with almost a million readers. De Pers is now reaching 7% of the Dutch population against 6% in 2007. Both Metro and Spits saw their reach drop somewhat.

In the youngest readership group 13-19 years, Spits is the best-read paper before Metro while Metro and Spits are leading before De Telegraaf in the 20-34 group.
