Quebecor (24 hours/heures) starts press agency

Canadian media company Quebecor will leave The Canadian Press, the national press agency. The Canadian Press will become a commercial operation instead of a jointly owned not-for-profit organization. Former ‘members’ (then: clients) can choose from different services.

Quebecor operates many paid (The Sun) and free newspaper all over Canada. For free papers – 24 hours/heures in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton – the change will be substantial as they always relied heavily on press agency material. (AP)
