London Lite in Russian hands

Russian billionaire and ex-KGB agent Alexander Lebedev is expected to buy London’s Evening Standard. As London Lite is part of the same company, the sale will include this London evening free daily as well.

In The Guardian) Lebedev declared he had no intention of interfering in British politics if he became the Standard’s new owner. “My influence would be next to zero.” That would be the first Russian newspaper owner to act in such a way. But if you can move ‘up’ (is it up?) from spying to publishing, I suppose anything is possible.
