Profile: Handelsblatt News am Abend

Although Germany does not have ‘real’ free dailies, there are small free ‘exclusive’ appetizers available to first class travelers in Germany.

Handelsblatt News am Abend is the free A4, 12 to 16 pages, evening paper by business daily Handelsblatt (Holzbrinck Group).

The paper is available on Lufthansa flights, with different editions for international (business class) and national flights (all passengers). A third edition is available for first class passengers on ICE-trains. Also on the Hapag-Lloyd AG Cruises by the MS Europa the paper is available.

Daily circulation (on days when the stock exchange is open) is around 30,000. The paper closes at 14:00 PM while the first copies are available around 15:30, less than two hours later. The paper calls itself ‘Die schnellste Zeitung’ (the fastest newspaper).

The paper is printed in cooperation with OCE on several different places in Germany but also abroad (in the USA).
