Österreich down in free circulation

In December the new Austrian circulation data for the first six months of 2008 became available. Only free/paid paper Österreich is included in this official ÖAK survey so far.

Österreich had a free circulation of 120,000 in these first six months, 89,000 in Vienna. In 2007 free circulation was 144,000 (100,000 in Vienna). Paid circulation of Österreich was stable at almost 170,000.

The circulation of other free papers in Austria is not officially audited. The largest free daily, Heute, only reveals readership data: 544,000 according to their own research. As the paper also claimed a circulation of around 500,000 (more than 300,000 in Vienna), this is probably too high.

TT Kompakt (Innsbruck, Moser Holding) distributes 9,000 copies while Oberösterreichs Neue (Die Neue) in the Linz area claims a circulation of around 60,000.
