The last 2008 casualties

Of the editions about to close down at the end of this year, 4 are still around. The Qué! editions in A Coruña, Bilbao, Mallorca and Murcia (see previous post) are still available on the Qué! website. The pre-Xmas issues are actually loaded with ads, more than half of the 20 pages of the Murcia edition had ads. Four pages alone with winning lottery numbers – printed sideways.

The Aalborg and Odense editions of 24timer in Denmark that were about to close down in December probably published their last issue on December 18 as there are no new issues available on the website.

The latest casualty is Ukraine’s Obzor put on sale recently. The Dutch TMG has said it failed to sell us so the newspaper and its freshly redesigned website (obzor.ua) will cease to exist tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

I hope to find a new investor for Obzor which is the 3rd most popular newspaper (amongst all newspapers including paid) in Kyiv with its 5m inhabitants. I also hope obzor.ua will be functioning at least in January.

    The price is 1,- EUR:)
