Last Link

Yesterday December 19, the last issue of Link was published. Link was the free youth-oriented daily by paid paper The Virginian Pilot (Hampton Roads, Virginia).

Link was launched in October 2006 and had  circulation of around 30,000.

Due to the economic recession the publisher made Link one of the cost cutting areas in November (see previous post).

The pdf of the last issue can be downloaded from the Link website. On page 24 the Link-team is pictured.

Editor Brianne Warner writes in the last issue:

In case you didn’t get the bulletin, the economy is rather rotten, and Link isn’t going to make it through. It needs to take a sabbatical, rest up, perhaps (fingers crossed) re-emerge one day when things look cheerier. Please know that we have loved creating this paper for you. It’s made with a lot of joy (and snarkiness), and we hope it was a sweet spot in your day. Thanks for not swamping us with phone calls when we got a little sarcastic, and instead, laughing along with us.
