Hong Kong frees increase circulation

All free papers in Hong Kong have slightly increased their circulation in 2008 compared to 2007. Metro distributed 349,000 copies on average in the first 6 months of 2008 – an increase of 3,000 copies.

AM730 (Shih Wing Ching, Centaline Holdings) distributed 300,000 copies between April and September 2008. In 2007 this was 16,000 copies less.

Headline Daily (Sing Tao News Corp.) had a circulation of 720,000 copies this year. In 2007 circulation was 702,000.

Sing Tao’s free business paper The Standard is not yet audited by the Hong Kong Audit Bureau of Circulations. The Standard claimed to have raised circulation to 224,000 this year (up from 120,000 in 2007).

Total free circulation in Hong Kong is almost 1.6 million, in 2007 this was 1.45 million. Market share of free dailies is 44%.
