‘Streamlining’ Liverpool Daily Post: 43 jobs gone

The Liverpool Daily Post (Trinity Mirror) is introducing “a revolutionary new editorial operating model, streamlining its production” according to the paper, which might involve the “loss of some editorial jobs”.

In total 43 of the 175 people working for the paper will have to go, if possible on a voluntary basis. The paper will drop its Saturday edition as well in 2009 to cut further cost.

The Daily Post is a paid paper, but is available for free in the city centre and for businesses – a model first employed by the Manchester Evening News.

In total 25% of the 24,000 copies of the paper are available for free. (via EditorsWeblog)
