Switzerland about to join South-Europe

During the summer holiday free dailies in the southern European countries usually close down. In Portugal, Spain, France, Greece and Italy there are no free newspapers in August and a part of July. In the northern countries free dailies cut down circulation but carry on publishing.

Switzerland, stuck in the middle between the North and the South, free dailies Le Matin Bleu (published in the French part of the country) and .ch (published in the German part) are thinking about closing down during the summer as well.

Other free papers 20 Minuten/Minutes and News, both published by Tamedia, are not thinking about closing during the summer months. (Tages-Anzeiger)
