NY Sun about to close
New York daily The New York Sun will close this month if it does not receive extra financial support. The paper has been losing money since its launch in 2002. (Reuters through EJC)
Although it shares the name and masthead of the ‘old’ New York Sun (closed down in 1950) there is no connection between the two papers.
The broadsheet has a right-of-center editorial policy, and is notorious for its ‘pro-Israel’ reporting.
Officially The Sun is a paid paper, but after it withdraw from the official circulation audit, its ‘paid’ circulation is very much disputed.
The paper claims a circulation of 70,000 – but probably only 20% is actually paid circulation. Meaning another quasi-free paper closes.
