‘Divesting’ plans for US Metro’s

Metro International has been trying to sell the US operations since almost a year, so far without too much success. Clarity Media (The Examiner) declined the offer while rumors about the NY Times being interested in the Boston and the NY titles never were more than just rumors.

The problematic US advertising market, however, requires a fast decision from Metro. CEO Per Mikael Jensen was quoted in the Sunday Times: “What we have been doing in the US is to look at all options. That means going into partnership with others or divesting.” This last option certainly is new. (Greenslade)
