Bleak prospects for Dutch papers
Dutch advertisers are expected to spend considerably less in 2009 according to business paper FD. A small increase in 2008 is expected to be followed by a drop in revenues in 2009.
Newspapers will be hurt most according to the paper. Publishers PCM (paid papers and free daily DAG) and TMG (Telegraaf, free daily Spits) already stated that they expected a loss in income.
One of the interviewed advertising experts expected one of the four free dailies in the Netherlands to close down in 2009.
