French frees increase revenues

Total revenues for the French written press were more or stable in 2007 compared to 2006 with a very small increase of 0.4% (not correcting for inflation). Income from advertising dropped for almost every sector.

Only the French free daily newspapers escaped this trend with a increase in revenues of 14%, from €139m in 2006 to €159m in 2007. The increase, however, was the lowest in the last years, it was 27% in 2006, 94% in 2005, 10% in 2004 and even 170% in 2003.

In total, the free dailies are responsible for only 1.5% of the total revenues of the written press in France. (Info-Médias through Le petit blog de la Presse Gratuite)
