Hungarian Metro becomes Metropol

After a lawsuit between Metro Hungary and Metro Cash & Carry AG the court decided that Metro would have to change its name to Metropol.

In Hungary the free daily still enjoys a monopoly, which is quite rare in Europe. Last year a competitor, Busz, briefly was published but changed to a weekly schedule soon after the launch.

Another free weekly, Budapest 7 Nap, also launched year ago, closed down last week.
