Local Greek free daily Magnesia

Since January 2007 a free daily newspaper is published in the town of Volos in Greece. The city has a population of 80,000 and is situated on the East coast, halfway between Athens and Thessaloniki.

Free daily Magnesia, with its title taken from the region’s name, has a print run of 7,000 copies. It is distributed Tuesday to Saturday within the town center and the outskirts of Volos.

There are plans for redesigning the paper and increasing the print run. According to editor Dimitris Kareklidis who send us the information, the newspaper can easily compete with paid titles.

On the website an e-reader interface makes it possible to read the paper online, in the coming months a news portal will be introduced.
