30 years of Aspen Daily News

One of the few remaining pre-Metro free dailies, the Aspen Daily News (Colorado), celebrated its 30th birthday this month.

On July 1, 1978, it started as a one-sheet publication, moved to a newsprint model in a few years and is now published seven days a week.

Ten years later, in 1988, the town with 12,000 inhabitants got a second free daily, the Aspen Times.

Clyde Davis (free-daily.com) reported on this one and has the full story.
