Destak to launch in Rio

Two years after the launch in São Paulo, free daily Destak will make its debut in Rio de Janeiro, the second city in Brazil.

Destak Rio will launch next Monday with a print run of 80,000. In São Paulo Destak has a circulation of 150,000 and claims a readership of 493,000.

The Rio edition will be distributed in 60 areas at subway stations, business centers, universities, shopping malls, hospitals and major street crossings according to Cidadebiz.

The paper is for 70% owned by Brazilian entrepreneur André Jordan and for 30% by Portuguese media group Cofina.

The paper started in Portuguese capital Lisbon in November 2004 and launched in Porto a year later.
