Attack on Telegraaf planned

Marcel Boekhoorn, publisher of free Dutch daily De Pers and recent 5%-owner of Dutch leading newspaper group De Telegraaf (see previous post) is planning an attack on the Telegraaf Media Group according to Dutch website 925.

Together with media tycoon John de Mol (Endemol) and real estate owner Dirk Paalberg, Boekhoorn owns 22.5% of the Dutch publisher, enough to make life difficult for the company.

According to 925 the investors see the company as greatly undervalued while also the share price is too low. Boekhoorn could also want de Telegraaf and its free daily Spits to cooperate more closely with his money-losing project De Pers. Talks between the two publisher were held already in 2007.

Since Boekhoorn bought the shares the share price indeed has gone up although the growth has stopped last week.
