Cleaning tax for Switzerland?
The Swiss federal government is thinking about taking measures against waste caused by free newspapers. In particular the papers that are left on streets after reading are bothering the Swiss.
The first step is to invite publishers to come up with ideas about limiting waste. The Bundesamt für Umwelt (Federal Environmental Bureau) is organizing a meeting with local council members and publishers in September to generate such ideas.
If publishers are unwilling to comply the Bundesamt will impose a tax on publishers and use the revenues to clean up the streets. (Persoenlich)
