UK: Metro 31% up in readership

Readership data of 2007 by NRS reveals that few titles increased readership compared to the full year 2006. Of the paid papers only The Sun and The Daily Star saw improvements. Metro UK saw its readership increase with no less than 31%, mainly because of increased circulation. The complete list is below (readership in thousands, change compared to 2006).

  • Daily Mirror 3,789 (0%)
  • Metro 2,673 (31%)
  • The Daily Telegraph 2,075 (-3%)
  • Daily Express 1,678 (-2%)
  • The Times 1,666 (-4%)
  • Daily Star 1,597 (3%)
  • Daily Record 1,134 (-4%)
  • The Guardian 1,121 (-10%)
  • London Lite 824
  • Thelondonpaper 813
  • The Independent 745 (-2%)
  • Evening Standard 668 (-14%)

London lite and Thelondonpaper were not audited in the previous year. In September, however they reported readership of 740,000 (London lite) and 713,000 (thelondonpaper). So both papers also increased their readership substantially.
