Italian free circulation almost 50%
Italian publishers organization FIEG published their ‘La stampa in Italia 2005-2007′ report last week. In 2007 total free circulation increased to 4 million while paid circulation was 5 million. The launch of DNews in the beginning of this year raised free circulation to 4.6 million, meaning 48 percent of total circulation.
In terms of readership free dailies lag behind, 40 million Italians read dailies, 67% reads paid dailies, 35% free dailies and 21% online dailies.
In Italy seven free dailies are published, national titles Leggo, City, Metro, EPolis, 24 minuti, and DNews, and two local papers: Anteprima Corriere and In Città .
