Ringier targets the Ukraine
Swiss publisher Ringier is promoting their tabloid Blik in the Ukraine by distributing every Monday 150,000 copies for free from last Monday (January 14) on. A special team of 200 promoters will be on the streets of capital Kiev every Monday.
With other actions (sweepstakes) the publisher is trying to boost paid circulation on other weekdays as well. Blik was launched in May 2006 and has a circulation of 93,000 on weekdays. (Ringier)
Ringier is mostly known for its tabloid Blick in home market Switzerland were it also publishes many magazines and two free newspapers (heute and Cash Daily).
The Blick concept is also published in Hungary (Blikk) and Serbia (Blic). In the Czech Republic, Serbia, and Romania Ringier publishes free dailies: 24 Hodin, 24 Sata and Compact. In Eastern Europe Ringier also publishes magazines and paid papers.
In the Ukraine the free/paid Blik paper is als competing with free papers: 15 Minut by KP Media and Obzor by Dutch publisher TMG (Telegraaf).
