One million readers for pdf-paper - update
A new Italian free pdf paper Sera Quotidiano (evening paper) claims that they have a million readers. The paper that counts 20 pages is published by the Darwin Media Group in Verona.
The paper that started in in the beginning of December is published from Monday till Friday at 16.30. Readers can download it online of subscribe to it via e-mail or on their mobile phone.
Pdf’s have been introduced in 2006 on a worldwide scale (see previous post) but so far without too much success. One of the first efforts: FTpm (also launched as a print product) by the Financial Times was terminated within a few months in 2006.
Of the titles mentioned in the previous post, also De Volkskrant 16.00 edition was closed down - only a few thousand subscribers bothered to download the paper every day. Danish Information’s 15.15 pdf has disappeared. The page for the Toronto Star Star P.M. pfd returns an error.
El País’ 24 Horas, however, is still around although todays issue contained no advertising. Same for Guardian’s G24: still there but no ads. German Financial Times Deutschland afternoon pdf FTD 17.00 is available to subscribers to the paper version only.
update: Also the Daily Telegraph’s afternoon pdf-paper Telegragh PM was quitely closed down. (Guardian)
