German circulation
Bild Zeitung (Axel Springer) lost circulation when he Q3 data for 2003 to 2007 data are compared. Bild Zeitung now has a circulation of 3.5 million, three years ago this was more than 4 million (minus 13%). Compared to last year the paper lost 5%. The Sunday edition even lost 7%.
Süddeutsche Zeitung and Handelsblatt remained stable while Financial Times Deutschland gained circulation compared to five years ago; last year, however, it had a slightly higher circulation. Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Die Tageszeitung also went down.
The combined circulation for Welt and Welt Kompakt (see previous post) has been going up for the last two years, from 244,000 in Q3 2005 to 275,000 this year. The company does not break out separate data for the compact and the broadsheet. The gain, however, could very well be attributed to Welt Kompakt. (Publicitas newsletter)
