24timer merges again
Danish free home delivered newspaper 24timer has swallowed the third local free daily within a few months. After merging with local free dailies un Arhus (JPArhus+) and Aalborg (Centrum), also the last free local daily, Xtra in Odense by Fyens Stiftstidende, has merged with 24timer. As the other merged titles, the new edition will probably be published under the combined name 24time Xtra, like in Arhus (24timer Arhus+) and in Aalborg (24timer Centrum). (Kristine Lowe)
24timer has now five editions: Copenhagen, Odense, Aalborg, Arhus and South Jutland (Syd). Total circulation is around 500,000. Less than a year ago Denmark had nine different titles, 25 editions, with a combined circulation of more than 2 million. Now there are four titles left, 14 editions and a combined circulation of 1.6 million. In 2006 paid circulation in Denmark was less than 1.3 million.
