French frees winners in ads

irep.jpgFrench advertising went up with 2.1% in 2006, which is only slightly better than in 2005 (+1.9). Big winners are internet (+45%) and free dailies (+23%). The total share of free papers, however, is still modest. Total share of paid newspapers is 12.4% (€1440 million) while free dailies (presse gratuite d’information) had sales of 91 million in 2006. Other free publications (presse gratuite d’annonces) sales were more than €1billion.
