February UK/Irish circulation data
Free papers in London reached a combined circulation of more than 1.5 million in February 2007. The Metro morning edition is still leading the way with 543,000 daily copies although thelondonpaper is closing in with 495,000 copies. Circulation of City AM is 95,000, while London Lite distributes 401,000 copies. Outside London Metro distributes 576,000 copies. In February the first data on the Scottish free Record PM became public, total circulation is 16,000 with almost half of that distributed in Edinburgh. The paper is said to increase distribution in the next months. Total UK circulation – including free copies of Manchester Evening News (81,000), Liverpool Daily Post (6,000) and Argus Lite (10,000) – is now 2,223,000. Total paid circulation in the UK is somewhat less than 17 million – meaning that ± 12% is free. In Ireland Herald AM (85,000) and Metro Ireland (77,000) are responsible for more than 25% of the total circulation.
