24 Hours launch in Calgary and Edmonton
One week after the launch of CanWest’ free daily RushHour in Calgary (see previous) and the announcement of Metro editions for Calgary and Edmonton (see previous), Sun Media (Quebecor) launched their own editions for both cities. Print run in both markets is 50,000 increasing total 24 Hours / 24 Heures circulation to more than half a million. There are other editions in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. In Calgary Quebecor also publishes the Calgary Sun. The new edition will employ 11 people. Metro Calgary will start March 5, the Edmonton edition a month later.
