Is door-to-door the future?

barc_27_10_06.jpgAccording to the Barcelona edition of 20 Minutos door-to-door (porta a porta) distribution of free papers is the most important development in free paper publishing right now. The paper reported on the Barcelona Conference on the free press.

The conference ended with a discussion between chief editors of all four Spanish free dailes (Metro, 20 Minutos, ADN and Qué!) and the paid Barcelona papers. Differences mainly have to do with political content according to many editors. Paid papers are very politcal, most free papers try to stay away from this. The only exception is ADN which has more politics.

Most paid papers did not show much concern about de rise of free newspapers. Although it was made clear that young people are moving away form paid papers.
