A Free Future?
Today is the second day of the Barcelona conference on the free press. In the Catalan alone there are more than 80 different free publications, almost a dozen dailies (Metro, Que!, 20 Minutos, ADN, Penalty, Don Dia, Mes, etc.) many weeklies, bi-weeklies and monthlies. Many of them are covering general news while other concentrate on real estate, entertainment, classified, sports, business, etc. But at the same time you see people reading paid papers like El Periodico, Vanguardia, El Pais and Avui. There are, among others, presentations on AM New York, sales, internet, and distribution. In my own presentation I will focus on European developments and trends in free paper distribution and content. The handout can be downloaded (PDF).
